2008 Individual Award:

FELIX A. ANDERSON IMAGE AWARD

The nominees for the Felix A. Anderson Image Award must be outstanding individuals who have contributed to enhancing the image of the profession. The nominees shall be perceived by the profession and in their communities as leaders. Nominees may demonstrate how their actions have positively impacted the public's understanding and appreciation of the engineering profession, their commitment to improving the awareness of engineer's contributions to “quality of life”, encouraged programs that promote pride in engineering, and demonstrate how they have encouraged engineers to pursue leadership positions in the community and how they have worked to reward those engineers who take steps to improve the public image of the engineering profession.

Felix A. Anderson Image Award

Throughout his career Mr. Rowe had been active in programs and organizations aimed at educating the public about the positive contributions of the engineering profession. As founder and CEO of Rowe Engineering and as a Vice President for Inland Seas Engineering, Mr. Rowe successfully completed hundreds of residential, commercial and industrial engineering and surveying projects throughout Michigan

Mr. Rowe served on the ACEC/Michigan Board of Directors for several years and is one of the only individuals to serve multiple terms as President of ACEC/Michigan (1968-69). He served a chairman of the National ACEC Education & Scholarship Committee and was elected a Fellow of the National ACEC in 1977.

Mr. Rowe assisted in creating the Land Surveying program at Mott Community College, developed standards for barrier free access to boating and fishing for persons with physical disabilities und the ADA, and was a member of the State Plat Advisory Committee for 15 years. Mr. Rowe is always active in community programs and served five years on the Flushing Community Schools Board of Education.
