Comments were very positive from members of ACEC/Michigan who attended the Annual Conference on Wednesday, May 5 in Lansing. The day kicked off with ACEC National V.P. of Government Affairs highlighting ACEC’s legislative recovery agenda. Federal legislation that is moving in Congress was reviewed that will affect infrastructure funding for water, aviation, and transportation.

Nine (9) different breakout sessions were held in the morning that appealed to all aspects of operating an engineering company from finance to human resources to project management.

After the luncheon, State Representative Pam Byrnes accepted the 2010 ACEC/Michigan Legislator of the Year award for her efforts to increase transportation funding and for protecting QBS. Outgoing committee chairs were presented plaques and recognized for their leadership as well as Board Directors.

Current President Paul Wade, Spalding DeDecker, pinned the 2010-2011 president Andy McCune, Wade Trim who will take over the reigns of ACEC/Michigan on July 1. Andy also introduced the 2010-2011 ACEC/Michigan Board of Directors.

Members enjoyed the afternoon session as Lansing Capitol Correspondent Tim Skubick entertained the crowd as he conversed with Gubernatorial Candidate and current Senator Tom George.

ACEC is planning to do a joint Annual Conference in 2011 with MSPE and ASCE.
