ACEC of Michigan honors Representative Pam Byrnes as
2010 Legislator of the Year
House Transportation Committee Chair and Speaker Pro Tempore a strong advocate for greater infrastructure investment

Lansing, Michigan – State Representative Pam Byrnes from the 52nd District (D-Chelsea) was presented with the 2010 ACEC/Michigan Legislator of the Year Award this week during the ACEC/Michigan Annual Conference in Lansing.  Rep. Byrnes was selected for her tireless efforts to raise awareness of Michigan’s deteriorating infrastructure and the desperate need for increased investment.

“Rep. Byrnes has been a strong supporter of greater investment for our failing transportation system”, stated ACEC/Michigan Executive Director Ron Brenke, P.E. “She has participated in multiple press conference concerning this issue and has held House Transportation Committee meetings around the state to bring awareness to this problem. ACEC/Michigan members are very grateful for her efforts.”

Rep. Byrnes accepted her award in front of over 100 attendees from the engineering industry. “I am extremely honored to receive this award and encourage the members of ACEC to continue to push for more transportation funding. Your efforts to obtain signatures for the transportation funding petition have not gone unnoticed in Lansing. Thank you for this award.”
